Dear Members and Friends of the Los Angeles World Affairs Council & Town Hall,
The staff and I wish you a very happy New Year.
We have a strong lineup of programs in 2020. We launched the New Year with two sold out breakfast events — the first with Ambassador John Emerson discussing the 2020 presidential candidates’ foreign policy stance and the second with Senior Defense Specialist Heather Williams discussing the recent events in Iran.
Looking ahead, on January 29, our Young Professionals are hosting the Consuls General of Mexico and Canada for a talk on USMCA. On February 10, General Wesley Clark and Secretary Andy Card will discuss routes for bipartisan consensus and cooperation on national security and other pressing issues facing the US. On February 27, California State Controller Betty Yee will address Angelenos on what’s next for California’s economy.
In the coming months, we will continue our monthly Kal Eisenberg Breakfast Series focused on the 2020 election, host our annual Consular Corps reception and exclusive off-the-record roundtable talks for our International Circle members, and host the Annual Youth Diplomacy Forum for hundreds of LA public high school students. We also have invitations out to the presidential candidates and several cabinet members, and are working closely with our diplomatic partners in LA and DC to host heads of state, foreign ministers and ambassadors.
We will be leading a delegation to Saudi Arabia in October, so be sure to check your emails for announcements on the details and how to sign up.
If your membership has lapsed or if you’d like to learn about upgrading your membership to gain additional access and member benefits, please don’t hesitate to contact us at (424) 258-6160.
Our organization and our mission is made possible because of the support and involvement of engaged, informed people like you.
We look forward to seeing you at a future event!
