Southern California raised, but twice removed to study and live abroad in Italy for 6 months and London for 2 years, Marissa finally touched down close to home in Los Angeles. It was during Marissa’s undergraduate endeavors that she discovered an undeniable passion to advocate for global women’s rights. After graduating from Cal-State Long Beach, Marissa pursued a Master’s degree in International Relations and Human Rights from Roehampton University, London, where she dedicated her research to analyzing extremism, modern-day slavery, and gender-based violence in the Middle East. Marissa now serves as the Director of Strategic Partnerships at Dressember, an anti-human trafficking organization that has raised over $7 million in just 6 years to support programs fighting sex trafficking domestically and internationally. Marissa leads Dressember’s giving program, special events, and partnerships.
