The L.A. City Archives is a vast repository of L.A. City history in the form of documents, maps, records and all kinds of historical paraphernalia related to the history of Los Angeles. The purpose of the City Archives’ Historical Records Program is to identify, collect, preserve, arrange and describe records of historical significance originated by the City government. As an institution, the City Archives serves as the final resting place for records of enduring political, economic, legal and cultural value.

The head L.A. City Archivist, Michael Holland, will conduct this special VIP tour created especially for Town Hall L.A. members. There are over 45,000 square feet of records, but our tour guide, Michael Holland, will curate a special selection of items that are sure to be a fascinating peek at our city’s history.

There’s something for everyone. For instance, if you are a Dodger fan, the Archives include the minutes of the City Council meeting at which the ordinance and contract was debated and approved to bring the team to Los Angeles.

Join us for this fascinating peek into our LA City history at a little known City department which is actually so important to our past and present.

FREE to THLA members in good standing, on a first come, first served basis. Everyone must be pre-registered. Unable to accommodate latecomers or walk-ups.
