Gregory Guyett is President and Chief Operating Officer at East West Bank and East West Bancorp. Prior to East West Bank, Mr. Guyett served as Executive Vice President of Corporate Development at Johnson Controls, a Fortune 100 multi-industrial company, where he oversaw acquisitions, divestitures and joint ventures. Prior to his role at Johnson Controls. Mr. Guyett served at J.P. Morgan over a span of 30 years. Startingas a credit trainee, Mr. Guyett eventually assumedmanagement roles within J.P. Morgan’s real estate banking, investment banking coverage and wholesale banking divisions. Mr. Guyett also has experience on a global scale as he has held key international leadership roles over the past ten years. He was named J.P. Morgan’s Senior Country Officer for Japan in 2007 and concurrently served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of J.P. Morgan Securities Japan Co., Ltd. In 2009, Mr. Guyett became the Chief Executive Officer of the Global Corporate Bank, a newly formed business unit focused on providing loans and commercial banking services to a diverse client base that includesmultinational corporations, financial institutions, and government entities, with an emphasis on China and other sizable high-growth markets. In 2013, Mr. Guyett relocated to Shanghai as Chief Executive Officer fortheGreater China region, assuming responsibility for the company’s businesses across mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. In this role, Mr. Guyett focused on strengthening client relationships in the region for J.P. Morgan’s businesses, while overseeing governance and regulatory engagement. He was also appointed as Head of Investment Banking, AsiaPacific, and was responsible for the bank’s capital raising, mergers and acquisitionsand lending businesses across the14-country Asia-Pacific region. Mr. Guyett served on the board of J.P. Morgan Chase Bank (China) Ltd. from 2010 to 2015 as a non-executive director and as Acting Chairman in 2014 and 2015.
Mr. Guyett received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art and Archaeology from Princeton University.He and his wife have three children and live in Los Angeles.
